CYO Basketball

Easily one of the most popular sports throughout our Diocese, the CYO Basketball Program is a haven of New York City basketball talent.

And our teams are no different.

St. Nicholas of Tolentine has enjoyed much success through the years, with a strong program that focuses on teaching our student-athletes how to play the game with the ability to succeed in their years beyond our program. Some of our players have continued on to play high school and college ball.

Our most recent success comes through the skills of the girls, with two of our teams crowned CYO Champions in the last two seasons. The first St. Nick's CYO team to achieve that goal was the 2011-2012 Eighth Grade team, followed by the 2012-2013 Fifth Grade team and 2014-2015 teams.

Our teams practice weekly, with the majority of our games against other parishes being played on the weekend. The girls' season runs from October - February, while the boys' season is from November - March.

Basketball is offered up through the high school level.

Our youngest basketball players can ready themselves for CYO by joining our basketball clinic in grades PreK-2. They will learn basic skills in our clinic, getting them ready to move onto either a CYO team or an intramural team.

The intramurals program gives players the chance to compete against other teams without the rigors of a CYO season. There are two divisions: Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8.
